FREE WE ARE NOBODY is released as a limited edition of 300 numbered copies and stands as a true Gesamtkunstwerk. Leander created the collage artwork himself and gladly personalizes the sleeve upon request.
Each LP includes a unique set of inserts: an envelope with a card, a sticker and a poem for the first 100 copies, as well as a small bag containing a fragment of a destroyed piano used in the creation process.

FREE WE ARE NOBODY is Leander Vertriests maiden release as a Ghent-based multi-instrumentalist, composer, and artist.
At the age of nine, Leander first picked up the accordion — it was love at first sight. From an early age, he explores devotedly a wide range of musical styles, from Balkan and jazz to classical and punk.
Leander’s artistic path increasingly gravitates toward experimentation and free improvisation, leading to new collaborations and a growing network within this scene. From this exploration emerged the idea for a vinyl record: FREE WE ARE NOBODY.
The album is an explosive, trance-like listening experience, created collectively with befriended top musicians. The title reflects the idea that being “nobody” is liberating: free from socially imposed identities and expectations, one can achieve complete artistic freedom. As “nobody” you are not bound by predefined rules.
FREE WE ARE NOBODY invites the listener to drift away and get lost in an imaginary world.
Leander Vertriest (°2001, Ghent) began his musical journey at music school De Kunstbrug (Gentbrugge) and continued with arts secondary education (KSO) at MUDA Evergem. He holds a Master’s degree in jazz accordion from the KASK Conservatory (Ghent) and is currently pursuing a postgraduate degree in contemporary classical music.
His first performances took place with “De Ledebirds” and the children’s choir “MaisQuelleChanson,” soon followed by the creation of his own projects.
In addition to his solo work, he leads several bands and ensembles, including Trio Magico, FREE WE ARE NOBODY, The Crocs and The Hats, and The Light and His Intergalactic Stars. He has performed both nationally and internationally (including Serbia, Cyprus, France and the Netherlands) and has appeared on renowned stages such as Bozar, Handelsbeurs, De Centrale and De Bijloke.
